Pyrimidine and its derivatives exhibiting pharmacological and therapeutic properties such as anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, antitumor, calcium channel antagonist, antihypertensive and anticancer activities etc have attracted interest in medicinal chemistry. MCRs are of increasing importance in organic and medicinal chemistry, in times where a premium is put on speed, diversity and efficiency in the drug discovery process.
