About the author

Brij M. Mitruka, M.S., Ph.D. is Director of the BHP Clinical Laboratory, Westchester, Pennsylvania and Associate Professor of Microbiology, Temple University School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Mitruka graduated in 1955 from Dungar College, Bikaner, Rajasthan, India with an I.Sc. degree and obtained his B.V.Sc. and A.H. degrees in 1959 from Rajasthan Veterinary College, Bikaner. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1962 and 1965, respectively, from Michigan State University, and East Lansing.

Summary

The objective of this book is to present a critical review and evaluation of the so-called conventional methods currently being used for bacterial identification, as well as to discuss the new approaches for the detection and identification of bacteria.
