Au reste, tant Genève que les Vallées traversaient alors des moments assez sérieux. En avril 1538, Farel et Calvin étaient chassés de Genève et ce dernier n'y rentrait que le 13 septembre 1541. D'ailleurs, les persécutions contre les Vaudois de Provence (1540-45) jetaient dans l'ombre leurs frères des Alpes.
