Un ri ¿esso della giocondità di Venezia riluce in queste pagine: sono scherzi alati, facili amori, argute sen tenze d' domini di mondo, voluttà. Di tratto in tratto una voce austera ammonisce, si sente il frizzo del satirico, qualcuno versa una lagrima; ma non per questo il lieto quadro s'infosca. Intorno ad uno che si lamenta, quanti che ridono!
