Bei der hohen Bedeutung, die der zweite Band des Maxwell schen Werkes fur die theoretische wie fur die experimentale Physik besitzt, schien eine eingehende Gliederung des Stoffes und sorgfältige Revision aller aualvtischen Rechnungen unumgänglich. Durch diese Revision durften auch die wenigen im Originale durch Versehen stehen gebliebenen Fehler beseitigt sein.
