Weg nach Frankreich gefunden, und hier sei die Stätte ihrer eigentlichen literarischen Ausbildung gewesen. Neuerdings ist aber jene Annahme vom keltischen Ursprung der Sage in Zweifel gezogen worden. Keltische Elemente, wie solche auch einzelne Namen, vor allen der Name Tristan 1) selbst, zu ver rathen scheinen können zwar nicht ganz geleugnet werden, allein im Wesentlichen ist die Sage eine französische Schöpfung.
