As the first edition of my Treatise on the Turbine is exhausted, I have been induced, at the solicitation of numerous mill wrights and engineers, to prepare a. Second edition for the press. I have therefore, in accordance with their wishes, devoted such leisure hours as I could spare from my professional avocation to a careful examination and revision of the first impression and its supplement, introducing such improvements as a closer observation and a more matured judgment suggested.
