Image compression is a technique that reduces the redundancy and irrelevant information from the image, results in minimizing the size in bytes and maintains the quality of image. The book explains techniques to compress colored image by using EZW, SPIHT and EBCOT without degrading the quality of the image. These are wavelet compression techniques which have been used earlier in Greyscale Images.The aim is to achieve a reasonable compression ratio as well as better quality of reconstructed image and high PSNR by using EZW, SPIHT and EBCOT coding schemes for colored image.
