Clearly, Cameroon has a gargantuan potential and capacity for growth. In order to realize it, there is every need for its citizens, friends and partners to work together, each in his or her own way and according to their individual endowments. But just how to go about this in the present circumstances, amidst the numerous abysmal crises plaguing the country is the reason I have written this book, Building a New Cameroon. It comes from the depth of the love I have for this country and the strong desire that I have to see it become a happier home for its people and those who visit it. The book, therefore, is intended to contribute to the education of Cameroonians on the key issues affecting the political, economic and social life of the Cameroon. Their overall goal is the promotion of a real and balanced development of the country (especially through the empowerment of young people, women and the rural poor), respect for human rights and democratic values, good governance and the elimination of corruption, one of the most serious obstacles to economic and social development of Cameroon as most of Africa.
