It has occurred to the writer that throughout the Bible, but especially in the Old Testament, there were many references to the word "Covenant." The urge to write a book which would thoroughly investigate every occurrence of that word (in the King James Version) just would not be dismissed from my mind. And so it lingered there until I finally decided that I would tackle the job.
If I am not mistaken, the word "Covenant" appears 292 times in the Bible and only ten of them are in the New Testament. There are other forms of the word which also appear in the holy writ, six of them being in the New Testament and only two of them in the Old Testament.
The word "Covenant," for the most part, almost exclusively has to do with the Israelites or with a person who was an Israelite. Even its use in the New Testament this rule is not broken.
So we might say that the word "Covenant" is, in its use in the Bible, very Jewish. Even for us Christians, we are spiritual descendants of Israel through Jesus Christ.
We anticipate that this book may be very enlightening to all who read it.

About the author

At age nineteen, Paul Light began his ministry in evangelism and pulpit supply. He married on his 25th birthday in 1952 and eventually had two children. His first pastorate began in 1953 at Jellico, Tennessee as a bi-vocational pastor. He served there for sixteen years, during which time they built a new church building. It took nine years to complete and was debt free. In 1969 he moved his family to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he took a job as an accountant. About seven months later he became a pastor in Latonia, Kentucky where he ministered for 21 years. During that time the church building was completely renovated.
Beginning in 1979 Pastor Light took a total of seven tour groups to the Holy Land. Soon after that he began missionary tours to different countries, some lasting as long as six months. The tours included preaching, building, and evangelism. His specialty, however, was teaching in Bible Colleges and Seminaries. He has made at least 50 missionary tours. Even at age 90, he is still engaged in missionary tours of teaching.
During the past thirty years, Dr. Light has been writing Study Guides and Commentaries on nearly all of the books of the Bible. Some of these are variations of approaches to Bible Books such as his Comparative Gospels, the Miracles of Elijah and Elisha, The Apocalyptic Books (Daniel and Revelation) and Characters of the Old Testament. He uses his books as teaching texts for the classes he teaches both abroad and in the United States.
Dr. Light has also published a collection of poems in two volumes and his own sermon outlines in four volumes. In addition to these he has also published six books on music. Look at the last few pages of this book to see all of his works published by Faithful Life Publishers.
