Victorien Sardou est né le 5 septembre 183r dans une vieille maison de la rue Beautreillis. C'est un Parisien, fils de Provençal, dont le père, un érudit qui publiait naguère une remar quable édition de Rabelais avec notes, était alors professeur de tenue des livres à l'école de commerce de Charonne, fondée par M. Pinel Grandchamp. M. A. Sardou ne semblait pas.
