Excerpt from Agricultural Trade Highlights, Vol. 7: July 1993

Although Venezuela's food processing industry is undergoing development, it has achieved notable strengths. For example, Venezuela has a snack food industry making both salted and sweet snacks that compete with u.s. Prod ucts. One fairly large meat processor and smaller companies produce hams and cold cuts that may be seen by consumers as substitutes for u.s. Proc essed meats. In addition, processed fruits and vegetables and salad dress ings appear on shelves with local names and as locally-made u.s. Brands such as Heinz, French, and Kraft.
