A further acquisition, however, and one of great interest and value, was made so lately as 1860, when, a century after the reception of the first instalment of the collection, other papers enclosed in boxes and in Lord Clarendon's private writing chest, were sent by the trustees of the bequest made to the University by Henry Hyde, Earl of Clarendon and Rochester, in 17 58.
