Excerpt from Viaje de la Comisión Astronómica Mexicana al Japón, para Observar el Tránsito del Planeta Vénus por el Disco del Sol el 8 de Diciembre de 1874
Pºsteriºrmente, y muy poco tiempº despues de mi llegada a esta Capital, el Astró nomo Real de Inglaterra, Mr. G. B. Airy, me dirigió una nºta invitándome a hacer la reducciºn de mis ºbservaciºnes de acuerdº cºn el plan adºptadº pºr las Cºmisiºnes inglesas, a lº cual nº vacilé en acceder, nº ºbstante las muchas ºcupaciºnes de que me hallº rºdeadº. Este trabajº se ha recibidº ya en Greenwich, segun me lº participa el Astrónomo Real en carta de 26 de Mayº últimº, y me pide en seguida la cºlecciºn de tºdºs mis datºs, que me prºpºngº remitirle tan prºntº cºmº me sea pºsible terminar su cºpia, pues de esa manera aun cuandº se retardase algº la publicaciºn de este librº, se tºmarán en cuenta las ºbservaciones mexicanas al hacerse la discusiºn de lºs resul tadºs ºbtenidºs pºr tºdas las Cºmisiºnes que han tºmadº parte en este gran trabajº astrºnómicº.
