Role of Mimusops Elengi in Alzheimer's Disease

Herbal medicine is the natural system of medicine that has been practiced for more than 5000years. "Ayurveda" is a Sanskrit word and it means "science of life or practice of longevity".This system of health care was conceived and developed by natural scientists through centuries of observation,discussion and medications based on trial and error.The leads of CNS active medicinal plants,which have emerged besides Rauwolfia serpentina,Mucuna pruriens for Parkinson's disease, Ocimum santum as an anti stress agent,Withania somnifera as anxiolytic,Centella asiatica and Bacopa monneria for learning and memory disorders. Bacopa monneria and Gingko biloba are mainly used in Alzhiemer's disease.The present study is focussed towards the traditionally used rejuvenating and neurotonic agents in AD.
