Loin de nous la pensée d'avoir cherché par là à diminuer le prestige d'un siège qui a été illustré par saint jean-chrysos tome, par saint Ignace, par tant d'autres dignes et pieux patriarches, et qui, au commencement de ce siècle, a en, comme l'archevêché de Paris en 18û8, le glorieux privilège d'être inondé du sang de son pontife. Là où le pasteur meurt pour son troupeau, la tradition chrétienne est vivante et se perpétuera.
