Facendo questo lavoro ho avuto di mira che gli stu denti a' Anatomia Comparata vi trovino l' essenza dei fatti più importanti accertati fin qui intorno alla strut tura degli animali vertebrati. Mi sono pensatamente aste nuto, salve rare eccezioni, dall' accumulare intorno ad esso citazioni e richiami; ed avverto perciò il lettore che mentre egli ha tutto il diritto di tenermi responsa bile per ogni errore che può venirgli sott occhio, sarà bene che, innanzi di tenere per originale ciò che tale gli sembra, egli si senta ben sicuro della sua competenza a giudicante.
