Come giustamente osserva il Bernoulli il materiale che deve servire di base ad una ricerca iconografica sopra Livia lascia a desiderare. Tutti i ritratti cioè che per ragioni estrinseche pos sono attribuirsi a quest' imperatrice sono di dimensioni ristrette o di esecuzione mediocre e perciò c' informano sopra il tipo fisono mico di essa soltanto in maniera incompleta.
