Per tal modo giustificato il libro da considerazioni meramente astratte, mi sia permesso aggiungere anche un'osservazione di ordine; ed è che nella mia Opera una parte trattante solo arida specigrafia e sinonimia era inevitabile per il concetto istesso che informa, o che dovrebbe informare, ogni Monografia. Vale a dire che trascurando un capitolo, sia pure il meno importante, non avrei appunto più ottenuto un lavoro che raccogliesse in corpo unico tutte le nozioni relative ad un argomento; sibbene una memoria, una dissertazione qualsiasi; pregevole o meno, ma non monografica.
