Se il mio esempio più che le mie parole abbiano potuto spronare la sua attività e infonder nell'animo suo il coraggio nelle avversità della vita, la tenacia nei propositi e l'amore sincero a questa provincia io non so, ne voglio dirlo. So questo soltanto che quando egli affido a me il grato ufficio di presentare ai suoi concittadini questo brano di storia ostunese volle che accanto al suo fosse associato il mio povero nome, come attestato di una promessa fattami 14.
