Excerpt from A Discourse on the Law of Retaliation: Delivered in the New Brick Church, February 6, 1814
In that most excellent lecture on christian moral ity, which our Lord delivered on the mount, he ex plained several precepts of the law of Moses, in' a manner Very different from that in which they had before been explained; and by some new c'om mands, which he saw fit to give, he virtually re pealed certain precepts found in the code appoint ed for the Hebrews.
