Nei primi 20 anni del corrente secolo (xix) molta fama si acquistò l'ab. Stefano Chiereghin di Chioggia, in riguar do alla Fauna adriatica, avendo egli descritto e figurato nella sua grande opera rimasta inedita, oltre ai pesci, ai testacei, ed agli echinodermi, anche 64 specie di crostacei, delle quali 33 portano i nomi Linneani, e 34 erano da lui credute nuove, ma non essendo state pubblicate, furono da altri fatte conoscere con nomi speciali, diversi dai suoi. Il manoscritto di quest'opera si conserva nella biblioteca del R. Liceo Marco Foscarini.
