Fears of the Soviet threat to the British way of life throughout the 1920s motivated British surveillance operations not only against Russians but also aristocrats and bohemians, initiating the divisions that would be resumed in the Cold War. The story of these actions and the accompanying glamorous climate are addressed with storytelling verve here.
