Excerpt from Peace and Reform, Against War and Corruption: In Answer to a Pamphlet, Written by Arthur Young, Esq., Entitled, "the Example of France, a Warning to Britain"
The firlt Pamphlet that fnggefled to me the idea of endeavouring to expofe thefe exploded, inconfiftent, mifchievous, Doctrines, was, that of I¿r. Arthur Young. Several reafons induced me to think it a proper object of animadverfion for, although 011 the firft perufial it appeared to be fuch a jumble of contradictions, falfehoods, and even libels on that Conltitution which it profeffed to defend, thati did not believe com mon fenfe could endure it yet on reading the approbation of Mr. Reeves, and finding it had been circulated with great induftry, I concluded it might be of fome ufe to refute what I thought fo fufceptible of refutation and while the apparent eaf111efs of the talk feemed to fet its accomplifhment within my reach, an object fo inglorious did not promife to provoke a Rival. Mr. Reeves has, by his approbation, adopted its Opinions as his own, and, however worthlefs it: may be in itfelf, it no doubt derives fome con fequence from being thus promulgated as the Manifefto of his Committee.
