Under the Common Law of Conspiracy no number Of men had a right to conspire to leave work together, with the intention Of putting their industry into a corner where it would have to stop or yield to their demands. Con formably with this, in 1741, certain bakers in New York were arrested for striking, and punished, and before the end of the century some cordwainers in Philadelphia had a similar experience.
