Le ragioni del fatto qui sopra enunciato devono in parte ri cercarsi in ciò che la disinfezione degli ambienti, fra le pra tiche di profilassi delle malattie infettive, è quella che tocca più davvicino la vita domestica, e incontra quindi non di rado opposizione da parte del pubblico, e in parte anche nel fatto, che non si è finora trovato per essa un mezzo di disinfezione innocuo e sicuro, come è il calore umido per quella degliog getti.
