Excerpt from Horæ Hebraicæ Et Talmudicæ, Vol. 4 of 4: Hebrew and Talmudical Exercitations Upon the Gospels, the Acts, Some Chapters of St. Paul's Epistle to the Romans, and the First Epistle to the Corinthians

Ver. 2: Am. Hvefinaros 'ayiou' Through the Holy Ghost] Expositors place these words differently. The Syriac, one of the Arabic copies, Beza, and the Italian, place them next after oils éfeae'fa-ro, whom he had chosen: that the sense ac cording to them is, after that he had given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen through the Holy Ghost. But the other Arabic, as also the Vulgar, the French and English translations, retain the same order of the words as we find them in the Greek text: most rightly rendering it, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given command ments. Which also of old had been done by God to the pro phets, dictating to them by the inspiration0 of his Holv Spirit. What they should teach and preach.
