Anche isalentini sono rappresentati come Cretensi associati ai Loom e agli Illi rici; ma la loro migrazione è collocata assai tardi, al tempo d' Idomeneo, dopo la guerra trojana. Senza annettere alcun valore storico a queste testimonianze, esse possono però venire considerate come rappresentanti il fatto che la popolazione di quella penisola era strettamente connessa a quella delle sponde opposte del mare Jonio ed apparteneva alla stessa famiglia con quelle razze pre-elleniche, comprese comunemente sotto la denominazione di Pelasgiche.
