Excerpt from Treatise on the Civil Jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace in the State of New-York, Vol. 1 of 2
In exemplifying any principle advanced, I have generally pursued the more usual course of authors, by giving a brief outline of the facts contained in the case itself, as reported, or stated, in the author te ferred to. To this remark, there will, however, be found many excep tions. And where I supposed the case so complicated and technical as to confound the general reader, I have usually dismissed it at once.
