Si trovarono tracce di mura romane antiche dalla piazza della Scala alle vie Marino, Agnello e san Martino, da san Giovanni in Conca, a san Satiro verso via Torino e a santa Maria Se greta. Le linee intersecantisi ricordano la disposizione delle antiche vie che ri producevano probabilmente le romane.
Nell'attuale piazza del Duomo v'era un grandioso edificio a colonne: era forse il Foro?
