Die historische Entwicklung der philosophischen Ethik lasst sich nicht behandeln ohne Heranziehung solcher natio nalen und religiösen Anschauungen uber sittliche Dinge, welchen eine höhere geschichtliche Bedeutung zukommt. Ich habe deswegen die nationale und religiöse Ethik der hier in Betracht kommenden Völker und Zeiten mitberücksich'tigt, sodass meine Darstellung über die philosophische Ethik viel fach hinausgreift und daher zugleich als ein Beitrag zur G e schichte der Ethik uberhaupt anzusehen ist.
