Wer sich in ein mathematisches Werk einarbeiten will, thut gut, sich von vornherein damit vertraut zu machen, dass er es mehrmals durchlesen muss, um es ganz zu verstehen. Es gibt Werke genug, die auch der fähige Leser acht bis zehn Mal durchgehen muss, um dem Verfasser genau folgen zu können. So hoch sind die Ansprüche nicht, die ich an die Geduld meiner Leser stellen muss; wenigstens habe ich mich redlich bemüht, sie so weit als irgend thunlich herab zusetzen.
