Environmental Assessment of Recycled Paperboard Industry

Recycling paper decreases the demand for virgin pulp and thus reduces the overall amount of air and water pollution associated with paper manufacture. Although, waste paper recycling emerged as viable alternative for virgin paper production, by-products released during paper recycling process such as effluent, sludge, gaseous and particulate air pollutants also causes environmental pollution to a minimal extent. This book focuses attempts to focus on certain key aspects of Environmental Life Cycle Assessment of a Recycled Paper Board Industry with emphasis on a) Inventory analysis for paper boards production b) Environmental impacts of paper board production. c) Improvement in waste management through experimental studies.

About the author

Dr. R. Mohanraj works as an Asst. Professor in Environmental Management, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India. He holds Masters and PhD degree in Environmental sciences from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. His research interest lies in Environmental Impact and Risk Assessment, Urban Air Pollution, Aerosol Chemistry, Geochemistry.
