Recycling paper decreases the demand for virgin pulp and thus reduces the overall amount of air and water pollution associated with paper manufacture. Although, waste paper recycling emerged as viable alternative for virgin paper production, by-products released during paper recycling process such as effluent, sludge, gaseous and particulate air pollutants also causes environmental pollution to a minimal extent. Dr. R. Mohanraj works as an Asst. Professor in Environmental Management, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India. He holds Masters and PhD degree in Environmental sciences from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. His research interest lies in Environmental Impact and Risk Assessment, Urban Air Pollution, Aerosol Chemistry, Geochemistry.
