It is not pleasant to contemplate our family lineage, identified as it has been with the settlement and development of Pennsylvania from the early days of the great Proprietary and laudably active ever since in that great Common wealth, and in the mighty West and other directions in this broad land, passing through two centuries of time without so much as a concerted effort to rescue from irreclaimable oblivion ma terial which has survived the casualties of time.
