Excerpt from Der Bibliothekar: Schwank in Vier Akten
None of the comedies that Moser wrote can lay claim to a very high or permanent position in literature. They were all written primarily to amuse, with little attention paid to any development of the characters or to logical plot. Neither do they depend for effect upon the wit of the dialogue, but almost wholly upon the comic situation. The characters are quite like puppets, placed in funny situations to interest and amuse the audience.
