As the texts are intended mainly for linguistic students, they are taken exclusively from those which are preserved in contemporary (or practically contemporary, as in the case of the Erfurt glossary) mss. As this book is of no use except for advanced students, I have thought it advisable to print the texts exactly as they appear in the mss., and have therefore refrained from adding any theoretical accents. Expanded contractions are printed in italics. Letters not in the mss. Are enclosed in U. Erasures are marked by.
