The book is about enhancement in productivity of an organization through adoption of automation strategy in its material handling function. The study is performed at a company which manufactures sucker rods for a wide consumption and usage. The company established the layout for manufacturing of sucker rod. The improved layout is developed with an objective of removing the shortcomings of the material handling function of the existing layout. It is with this aim of studying the material handling tasks being undertaken at the layouts that the present study has been conducted. The objective is to compare the handling activities at the two layouts and make a comparative analysis of the two. This would help a new practitioner to get new insights for improving layouts.

Rohini Singhavi has completed masters in Production and Industrial Engineering and working as an assistant professor. Vinod Yadav is a research scholar at Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur and they have published several research papers in reputed international journals and authored a book also for an international publisher.
