Having this view of the subject in my mind, and a great desire,_ notwithstanding, to pay some tribute to the memory of a few characters for whom I felt a peculiar admiration and respect, I have ventured upon what may be considered, in some degree, as a new attempt, to give a short. Descriptive chronicle of those noble beings, whose existence has honoured human nature and'benefited mankind.
