Excerpt from An Elizabethan Guild of the City of Exeter: An Account of the Proceeding of the Society of Merchant Adventurers, During the Latter Half of the 16th Century
By the courtesy of the Master and Wardens of the Ancient Society of Weavers, Fullers and Shearmen, I have had placed at my disposal the minutes of the proceedings of the Society of Merchant Adventurers trading beyond the Seas. These minutes are a record of transactions extending from the foundation of the Society to the end of the reign of Elizabeth; the papers were discovered amongst the archives of the Weavers' Society.
