Disc lining the calyx-tube. C'arpels 1-5, free or connate ventrally; ovules few or many. Follables coriaceous or membranous. Seeds few or many, turgid; tests crustaceous, albumen -distbib. Species 4 or 5, natives of the Himalaya, Java, N. E. Asia, America.
