We certainly deem the chemical investigations eminently valuable, as tending at once to excite inquiry, study and experi ment, in regard to the analyses, quality and effects of the poisonous vegetable alkaloids, Which thus far appear to have eluded that certainty of detection Which has been obtained With reference to the metallic poisons. We therefore present the Work in a substantial, enduring and authentic form.
