L'anneau ombilical est fermé en dedans par le péritoine; il se continue en dehors avec le cordon; il est limité à sa périphérie au niveau de la paroi abdominale par les différentes couches de cette paroi qui se confondent en un trousseau épaissi de fibres constituant comme un anneau. Les auteurs y ont décrit des fibres élastiques et des fibres musculaires. Mais le rôle si important qu'on a attribué à cet anneau libro - musculaire est aujourd'hui bien déchu de son ancienne importance.
