Je puis donc le dire avec vérité, tout était nouveau dans ces études; mais les faits et les théories qu'elles renferment se rattachaient trop intimement aux fondements mêmes de la physique, pour qu'ils ne fussent pas un peu plus tôt un peu plus tard, l'objet d'un examen approfondi de la part des savants. Sous ce rapport mon travail m'a toujours paru digne de l'attention des géomètres, des chimistes et des physiciens.
