Excerpt from Extracts From the Records of the Convention of the Royal Burghs of Scotland, 1759-79
HE present volume contains extracts from the Records of the Convention of Royal Burghs from loth July 1759 to lst April 1779. During that period there were twenty annual meetings of the Convention with the intervening meetings of the Committee during each year. All the meetings were held in Edin burgh, and the Lord Provost of the City was appointed Preses of the Convention for the year. There were six Lord Provosts, viz George Drummond, George Lind, James Stuart, Gilbert Laurie, John Dalrymple, and James Stodart. Lind and Stodart each held office for two years, and each of the others held it for four years.
