L'usmn où l'on est de mettre une préface à la tête d'un livre quelque petit qu'il soit est si bien établi qu'il n'est plus maintenant possible de s'en dispenser. Malheurà l'écrivain qui vou drait se soustraire à cette pénible obligation. C'est un moyen bien connu d'appeler sur un ouvrage l'attention publique sans compter l'extrême avantage que l'on a de pouvoir par ler de soi tout à son aise. Puisque telle est la loi sachons nous y conformer, et faisons part au lecteur, qui lit les préfaces, des motifs qui m'ont décidé à composer mon petit roman et surtout à le faire imprimer.
