Excerpt from A Second Anglo-Saxon Reader: Archaic and Dialectal

MY First anglo-saxon Reader is, for practical reasons, restricted to the west-saxon dialect. But the other Old English dialects are of equal-wif not even more - value to the historical student of English. Hence the necessity of a sup plementary archaic and dialectal Reader. The primary object of the present book is, accordingly, to give the student - as far as the often scanty materials will allow - the means of making himself acquainted with the leading features of the non-west-safron dialects of Old English.
