I have endeavoured to preferve the te membrance of a (cholar, who, by his labours, promoted the interef'ts of learning, and to protect a charaé'ter, which, for its probity, may be offered, as an example, to imitation. More leifure, and better talents, than I poiiefs, might have done ampler juflice to his membry, by 'difplaying his worth to greater advantage.
