Questo libretto, ancorché si rivolge. Specialmente a scolari e ad esordienti negli studi danteschi, non e Opera di compilazione. Io mi sono ingegnato di fon dere, colle opportune e necessarie emende, in una sintesi nuova i dati offerti dalla tradizione intorno alla genesi della Commedia ed alla sua contenenza dottrinale, attenendomi a quello che vengo distesa mente ragionando nell'opera, ormai prossima al termine, Il significato e il fine della Divina Commedia ediz., Livorno, Giusti.
