About the author

A lifelong transport enthusiast, John started working as a bus driver in 1984 at the age of twenty-two. He worked for the municipal bus operator in Darlington, which became Darlington Transport Company after deregulation, and remained there until the company's eventual demise. After working for Stagecoach, TMS and United, he became a train guard in 1998.
