La seconde moitié de ce volume a déjà été publiée, il y a quelques années, sous forme d'articles, dans la Revue de France. Elle ne comprenait que le récit de la catastrophe qui a mis fin à la carrière ministérielle de du T illot dans le duché de Parme. On y a ajouté ici une histoire abrégée de sa courte admi nistration, qui forme la première moitié.
